It is with deep regret that the club announce the passing of former member Michael (Mick) Genocchi. Mick was the last surviving member of the original Manortown committee, formed in 1969. On the first weekend of that season, Manortown fielded 3 teams - under 12's, under 14's, which played on Saturday, and under 16's which played on Sunday. Mick was the manager of our under 12 team that day. Mick's three sons, Derek, Neil and Michael, all played for Manortown.
It is thanks to people like Mick, whose great effort and organisation back then, see the club thriving today 55 years later. Mick was an absolute gentleman, much loved by the kids that came under his guidance. His passing marks the end of an era in Manortown United FC.
