Manortown are saddened by the news of the passing of Greg McQuerins, one of our best.
Greg’s time in the club was spread over many years as a player, coach and committee member. His time coaching alongside Ciaran Flaherty brought huge success to both teams they managed, with their first team going on to win the All Ireland Cup for the first time in club history. That season the same u17 All Ireland winners team travelled to Italy where they beat the Italian champions 1-0 in their own back yard.
Greg's second stint as Manager also brought a very successful spell for the club. This team were never far off the top of what was an extremely competitive age group, reaching a cup final and never finishing below 4th in each season they played.
Players of both teams will cherish every memory including travelling to the away matches in Greg's car and the sound of Hue and Cry, Level 42 and Go West every second week.
The players he coached will remember Greg as a friend, a coach and a support mechanism for anything in life, both inside and outside of football.
RIP Greg you will never be forgotten.
Our condolences to Greg’s wife Joan, his children Oisin and Sinead. Greg’s funeral arrangements are detailed in the link below:
