It is with great sadness that the club announce the passing of another Manortown legend, Kevin Dunne. Kevin passed away peacefully last Friday surrounded by his loving family in Perth, Western Australia. Kevin played senior football for Manortown during the club's golden era of the 80's and 90's. He was one of the main reasons the team were so successful. A skilful but uncompromising and fearless centre half, he often said that when he went in for a tackle he wasn't too fussy whether he got the man or the ball, once he got one or the other, preferably both. Kevin married Geraldine Knowles, daughter of Sonny, who also played a big part in the history of the club. They moved to England in the nineties and then to Australia where they stayed to the present day. They came back in 2019 for the clubs 50th anniversary celebrations and Kevin played in the game against Shamrock Rovers Legends on that morning. He would have been 63 years at the time. Everyone here in Manortown that knew Kevin would like to extend our deepest sympathies to his wife Geraldine, his two sons Kenny and Alan, his daughter Lorna, and his grandchildren, all living in Australia. Also condolences to his brothers and his sister. May he rest in peace.
