Football Association of Ireland medical director Dr Alan Byrne has recorded a COVID-19 video FAQ for all players under 18 and younger and their underage clubs and parents/guardians ahead of the return to non-contact training from Monday, April 26.
In the video interview with FAI TV, Alan offers invaluable advice to players, coaches, parents and guardians, club officials and volunteers ahead of their permission to hold training sessions under the Government guidelines.
“Monday is another milestone day for the return of football – it is for our under 18 and younger players in this instance but, as with the League of Ireland and Women’s National League, this is another key date on our return for all football at all levels.
“Our game is a safe game. The statistics from our professional game at international and domestic level continue to prove that. Now the Under 18s and younger can do their bit to prove our game is safe and pave the way for football’s full return as soon as possible. I wish them all well from Monday and urge them to enjoy their return to the training ground.”
