Another very successful week as our mini leagues came to an end on Saturday in 8 acres. This is the longest running Summer road leagues in Dublin if not Ireland.
Huge numbers off both girls and boys played games over the course of the week ending with kids going home with trophies to put on the mantle piece, friends made, confidence boosted and as always for some, the start of many years of football ahead and more years in our mini league both for Manortown kids and kids from other local clubs.
A week that can't be run without the help of many people the committee and managers of the club who spent hours lifting rolling and putting away goals, the shop during the week and World famous Bridles burgers and hot dogs. Special thanks to Michelle, Brian, Ger and Sienna the future shop Manager.
Thanks to all our Manortown players who due to age can't compete but spent whole week helping with shop, referring games and managing the younger ages with encouraging words and support throughout the week which I know becomes a highlight for these boys and girls.
We do as volunteers make mistakes and can never get everything right but the feedback from all who took part and parents who watched on from sidelines and their positive remarks means it was a hugely successful week and one we will all look forward to making even bigger and better next year.
We hope over the next fews days pass on through social media some of the best goals and exciting parts of a great final day through our new club signing the VEO analysis camera.
This was our first year in mini league with this system and again we hope to have a better understanding of its use by the time next year's leagues comes along.
Thanks again to all who took part and helped out and big thanks to our sponsors Benny O'Byrne all the way from USA and the whole O'Byrne family for their contribution and their help in sponsoring the 2021 Manortown mini leagues Jack O Byrne Cup & Shield.
Jacko was fondly remembered this week and it was great to see his whole family to remember him - especially his great grandchildren who played all week.
Thanks again to all and we look forward to seeing you all again next year.
Yours in sport
The Committee.
