Over last weekend over 30 girls between 5-8 were excited to be part of the Manortown Utd UEFA playmakers program in conjunction with FAI & Disney.

This program concentrates on girls at a young age to get them moving & agile in a fun learning environment.

We had our volunteer coaches put through all the delivery training & safeguarding processes & the kids had a ball. Lead coordinator Michelle said that tbe training was really helpful because it’s not football education - it’s about inclusiveness, movement & most of all being loud & having fun.

It’s a 10 week program for the girls & costed nothing to register.

There’s a huge focus on girls in football currently & between this & soccer sisters starting tonight - Manortown are embracing the women’s game & setting ourselves up for success going forward.

UEFA Playmakers is a sports activity like no other that delivers a fun and safe introduction to learning football, for 5-8 year old girls, through movement, play and the magic of Disney storytelling.

The sessions are based around some of Disney’s most famous films. The programme will be broken down into two blocks with 10 sessions, where girls will play out their favourite films and take on the roles of some of the best-loved characters of all time. Focusing on developing fundamental movement, life, and football skills. Resulting in girls that are healthy and multitalented – and choose football as an activity for life.
